Kevin Gonzalez, CPA
Kevin is a lifelong Coachella Valley resident who proudly calls the desert home. A graduate of La Quinta High School, he earned his degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of California, Santa Barbara before returning to the Valley to begin his career at a CPA firm in Palm Desert. There, he gained the experience and expertise needed to earn his CPA license. After seven years in public accounting, Kevin fulfilled his goal of opening his own accounting practice in Indio, the city where he was raised.
Kevin met his wife while working together at a local CPA firm. Outside of work, he enjoys life with their energetic Labrador, Miley, and their sweet cat, Matcha. Kevin has a passion for music and often practices guitar, plays pickleball regularly at his club, and has been a car enthusiast since childhood.
Asia Gonzalez
Born in Canada and raised in southern California, Asia and her family moved to Orange County when she was very young. They eventually settled in the Desert in 2002, which is where she calls home. After graduating from Palm Desert High School she attended the local community college COD, where she took classes in tax and accounting. In 2015 she landed her first accounting job at a CPA firm in Palm Desert starting out as an administrative assistant. Over the years she worked for a few different CPAs in the valley learning basic tax prep skills and bookkeeping.
Asia and her husband Kevin were hired at the same office and started working together in 2018. Now married, with over 10 tax seasons under their belts, they decided to open their own CPA office. In 2024 The GAP CPA (The Gonzalez Accounting Practice) was launched!
Asia and Kevin have three adorable girls. Miley their labrador and their two cats Matcha and Wednesday. Asia’s favorite weekend activity is taking Miley to get a pup cup at their favorite coffee shop and stopping at a couple thrift stores.
Alonso Herrera
A true desert dweller, Alonso grew up throughout the Coachella Valley. From the Eastern city of Coachella all the way to the West end of Palm Springs. Alonso has always considered the desert his home. He briefly left the desert to attend college at the University of California, Irvine, where he earned a degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting and Organization & Management. Alonso began his accounting career with Ernst & Young in 2017, interning during the summers before joining them full-time in 2020. Working his way up to a manager with Ernst & Young, he gained valuable experience serving clients across a variety of industries and developed a strong passion for helping others. The OG accountant at The GAP CPA now brings his passion to our community, by helping clients navigate challenges and find meaningful solutions.
Outside of work, Alonso enjoys discovering new music, lifting weights, spending weekends focused on photography, and attending music festivals during the off-season. He also values spending time outdoors and exploring nature whenever possible.
America Esquivel
America grew up in Orange County, California. After finishing high school she wanted to experience a new city without being too far from her family. She landed an hour south off the I-5 in San Diego. She graduated from the University of San Diego, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Accountancy. Each summer between semesters she would intern at PricewaterhouseCoopers. She worked in asset and wealth management for healthcare industries and real estate developers. Her move to San Diego ended up being worthwhile because she ended up meeting her husband.
America is our resident bookkeeper and handles bookkeeping for clients across a variety of industries and enjoys building strong relationships with the people she works with. She takes pride in her attention to detail and the care and effort she puts into her work each day.
Now living in the desert, America and her husband are exploring a new city together. They moved to the Coachella Valley in the beginning of 2026. They enjoy staying active, traveling, finding new coffee and matcha spots, and admiring nature — especially desert sunsets and star-filled skies. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family, especially her two baby nieces.
Yoselin Leal
Yoselin is a true Coachella Valley native, born and raised in the picturesque desert. Throughout her years in school, Yoselin was studious, competitive, and disciplined. All her sweat equity earned her the title of Valedictorian at her high school. She was rewarded with a full scholarship to attend the University of California, Irvine where she earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Paul Merage School of Business. Adding accountant to her resume she is proud to serve the community she has always called home.
Yoselin has mastered her first tax season at The GAP CPA and is ready to take on more. She appreciates learning about all types of industries and using her tax knowledge to help the local community. She is a valuable support to both the clients and her team.
Outside of work, Yoselin enjoys traveling and spending time with her fiancé, who is also her high school sweetheart. She also cherishes time with her two little nephews, often taking them out to explore new places.
